Liverpool fans react as Mohamed Salah surprisingly underwhelms again

Some Liverpool fans have taken to social media to comment on Mohamed Salah’s underwhelming performance against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds came through with a 3-2 win at Anfield, courtesy of a last-gasp winner from Roberto Firmino.

It was a good collective performance from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Despite the one-goal margin, Liverpool were clearly the better side and should have made things more comfortable than they were.

Standout performers for the Reds included the likes of Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum.

But it was yet another frustrating night for last season’s £37 million goal machine Salah.

Off the pace at Anfield

Where most of his teammates displayed high intensity, Salah appeared a little jaded.

Where Sadio Mane appeared sharp in and around the box, Salah was clunky.

The Egyptian talisman was by no means terrible, but his touch deserted him a few times and he also ran into trouble on occasions.

He was also a little wasteful and directly contributed to the PSG equaliser by inexplicably giving the ball away in his own half.

When he was substituted by Jurgen Klopp, his frustrations were quite obvious.

A slow start

Salah hasn’t looked the same so far this season.

He does have two goals and an assist to his name but he looks nowhere near as dangerous.

Whether he’s been rattled by the injury caused by Sergio Ramos in last season’s final, or opponents have simply sussed him out, the fact is most of his teammates are currently outperforming him.
