Harry Wilson has taken to Twitter to apologise to Bournemouth fans after footage emerged of the on-loan Liverpool attacker wearing a Liverpool jacket – and Reds fans have responded on Twitter to his apology.
Wilson, 22, has been in excellent form for struggling Bournemouth this season after joining Eddie Howe’s side on loan for the 2019-20 campaign. The Wales international has scored six goals, and created two more in his 27 appearances.
The former Derby loanee was not in the side to take on parent club Liverpool due to loan rules, but he was at Anfield to watch the game. Footage and images have emerged online of him in a Liverpool jacket, despite being on loan at Bournemouth.
He has posted a statement on his official Twitter account, apologising to Bournemouth fans and explaining that he was only wearing the jacket as he was “cold” and was offered the overall by a Liverpool member of staff.
Wilson joined Bournemouth last summer on a season-long loan, costing £3million but with no option of a permanent deal – as per the Standard – perhaps suggesting that Jurgen Klopp sees a future for Wilson at Anfield in the long run.
Liverpool fans reacted to Wilson’s post by discussing whether he would be returning to Anfield in the summer with a view to breaking into the senior side, or whether he would be leaving the club again.
