Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has confirmed on the club’s official website that he won’t be going to the European Championships with Holland during the summer.
The centre-back has missed the majority of the 2020/21 campaign after rupturing his ACL against Everton in October.
Now, he’s confirmed that he won’t be heading to the summer tournament with his country and will instead enter the final stages of his rehabilitation.

That is massive news for supporters of Liverpool who have missed his presence in the team during the current campaign.
The £180,000-a-week defender has been sorely missed and his absence has seen the Reds relinquish their Premier League title with a whimper.
Liverpool will welcome him back into the team with open arms next season and getting him back on the pitch will be a massive step in the right direction.
Following the update from Van Dijk, supporters have taken to Twitter to discuss his positive update.
Here is what they had to say as the Dutch defender prioritises club over country.
