Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be nearing a return to first-team action after posting on Twitter that he was back in training – and supporters couldn’t hide their delight.

The 29-year-old signed for the Premier League champions for £20 million from Bayern Munich during the summer.

A dream has turned into a nightmare though and since checking in he has managed just 134 minutes of action for his new employers.

He looked to be on the mend though and his return could see Liverpool kick on further in their quest to retain their Premier League title.

Thiago looked a really astute signing on paper for the Reds and supporters are itching to see him in the team on a regular basis.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and secured a stunning 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace during their game.

Having Thiago available could make it ominous for the rest of the division, and in particular, Liverpool’s title challengers.

Jurgen Klopp will relish having the Spaniard back in his ranks and it might not be too long before he’s back on the pitch.
