He oversaw a 5-0 defeat over Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and knocked Shrewsbury Town out of the FA Cup.

Critchley is the latest academy coach to head from Liverpool to take on a senior role with another club.

Steven Gerrard, Michael Beale and Mike Marsh have all progressed into first-team roles in the past.

Blackpool are 13th in League One and beat Ipswich Town 2-1 at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
