Liverpool fans react as Thomas Partey breaks Twitter silence

Thomas Partey has posted on Twitter for the first time since helping Atletico Madrid knock Liverpool out of the Champions league’s last 16 – and Reds fans have responded by urging the Ghana captain to move to Anfield this summer.

Partey, 26, played every single second of Atletico’s 4-2 aggregate win that saw the tie go into extra time at Anfield – only for Atleti to come from two goals down on the night, to win 3-2. Partey was central to that comeback.

Indeed, Partey’s burgeoning reputation seems him regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in Europe at this moment in time. Such is that, he is being linked with a move to the Premier League – and his Anfield display only strengthened that.

The Telegraph claim that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are keen to snab Partey’s signature this summer. Partey, who has a £45 million release clause, has now clocked up 174 senior outings for Atleti after breaking through their youth academy.

Liverpool could do with another midfielder. Fabinho is the club’s best holding midfielder but his performances of late have dropped off, ever since his return from injury. Jordan Henderson plays slightly higher up the pitch than Fabinho.

Liverpool fans reacted to Partey’s Tweet, with the majority urging him to return to Merseyside but instead to sign a deal with Jurgen Klopp’s side – despite him knocking the Reds out of the Champions League.
