Liverpool are being linked with midfielder Renato Sanches at French top-flight club Lille – and some of the Reds fans on Twitter have responded by suggesting he could be a great addition for them.

French publication Le10 Sport reports that Liverpool are interested in the 23-year-old, who they view as a potential successor to their current star Georginio Wijnaldum.

The report states that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is a fan of Sanches and that he would become a priority target in January if Wijnaldum exits.

30-year-old midfielder Wijnaldum, who has been key in winning the Premier League and Champions League in the past couple of years, is reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona and he’s in the final year of his contract at Anfield.

Sanches is a player familiar to English audiences after a previous brief spell on loan at Swansea City, but he wasn’t able to live up to the excitement around his name.

After failing to cement a position at Bayern Munich as a wonderkid, he’s moved to France to play regularly in the past 18 months at Lille.

The Portugal international is an all-action central midfielder that has plenty of technical ability and can drive forward in possession, plus has an engine and work-rate that should suit the Premier League.

He’s certainly more mature than his previous time in England and he’s done enough to catch the eye of Klopp.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media have suggested that German boss Klopp could be the right man to try help develop Sanches, as he’s got experience of taking players to the next level.
