Liverpool fans react as Sergio Romero is tipped to start at Anfield

Liverpool fans have been discussing the prospect of Sergio Romero starting in goal for Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

The 28-year-old was forced off during the Euro 2020 qualifier with Sweden to be replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

United supporters will be fearing the worst over de Gea, who appeared to sustain the injury under completely innocuous circumstances clearing a backpass.

The star will now be assessed by United physios.

de Gea’s potential absence at Anfield would be a huge blow for the visitors, with the former Atletico Madrid man having been United’s standout performer for the best part of eight years.

His form has wavered in recent times, but he is still a crucial player for the Red Devils and they will hope the problem is nothing too serious.

Liverpool fans react

Several Liverpool fans have given their takes about Romero potentially deputising for the doubtful de Gea on social media.

Quite a few appear to be wary of the quality of the Argentine, who has often proved himself to be a top quality backup at Old Trafford:
