Liverpool fans react as Rio Ferdinand urges them to sign Raheem Sterling

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments made by Rio Ferdinand where he suggested that the Reds should look at Raheem Sterling amid doubts over his Manchester City future.

There appears to be a question mark hanging over Sterling at the Etihad Stadium.

As noted by The Telegraph, his current deal expires in 2023. And he is yet to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions.

He is also enduring a poor run of form for Pep Guardiola’s side. Sterling has only scored once in all competitions this season having only made two starts in the opening weeks.

Obviously, everyone knows how good Sterling can be. So if he does become available, there are likely to be a host of sides chasing the 26-year-old.

And one team Ferdinand believes should put themselves in the running is Liverpool.

The pundit insisted on his own YouTube channel that he would sign the forward tomorrow if he was the Reds.

Unsurprisingly, the comments have prompted a strong reaction. Understandably, the notion of re-signing Sterling has not gone down well with a lot of supporters.

Admittedly, some feel that he would be a very good signing. In fairness, he is only a handful of goals away from bringing up his century in the Premier League.

But there is a lot of bad feeling due to the way he left the club in a £49 million deal back in 2015. And for many, they cannot think of many deals they would dislike more.
