Liverpool fans react as Reds reportedly told to pay £30m for 21-year-old attacker
Liverpool have been reportedly told to pay £30million for Lille striker Jonathan David – and Reds fans have urged their club to get a deal done.
David, 21, has been in excellent form this season – improving on a mediocre first season in France. Given his age, he is producing incredible numbers.
In his first season after joining from Genk – where he scored 37 in 83 games – the Canada international only scored 13 goals in his first season at Lille.
But he laid on five assists and was important in helping Lille win Ligue 1. This season, his form has gone up a level, while Lille’s has dipped.
The striker has now scored 12 goals in 22 games, and been excellent for his country – where he has 18 goals in 24 caps. Liverpool are interested.
What do Liverpool fans think of signing Lille striker David?
Liverpool are obviously about to lose Mo Salah and Sadio Mane in January, and potentially the start of February – to the African Cup of Nations.
Divock Origi, meanwhile, is out of contract at the end of the season. So Liverpool could do with an attacking option in January.
But it also makes sense to have another body, even when Salah and Mane return in order to replace Origi. Liverpool fans want David signed.
