Pundit Garth Crooks has urged Liverpool to consider signing Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse – and some Reds fans on Twitter have responded by agreeing he’d be a great addition at Anfield.
Ward-Prowse, who is the captain of Premier League rivals Southampton, is a talisman for side and has a wealth of top-flight experience under his belt.
The 26-year-old is an ever-present in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team and is a central midfielder renowned for his incredible ability from set-pieces, with some regarding him as the best in the division from dead-ball scenarios.
BBC pundit Crooks feels that the Saints star would be a great fit on Merseyside:
“It’s clear Georginio Wijnaldum is almost certain to leave Liverpool at the end of the season for Barcelona. I can’t think of a better replacement than Ward-Prowse,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media would like to see the club target him in the next transfer window.
The midfielder has been capped four times at international level for England, while for Southampton he’s always one of their most consistent performers.
His accuracy from free-kicks are immaculate, plus he’s a grafter that works hard off the ball and has great stamina too.
Liverpool have raided Southampton for the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane in the past, so it’ll be interesting to see if they look towards the talent at St Mary’s once again.
