Liverpool have reportedly been offered the chance to bring Philippe Coutinho back to Anfield this summer. A report from Spanish newspaper AS claims Barcelona owe a hefty amount of the fee they paid Liverpool to sign him. A return would wipe that out and fans have responded.
Coutinho, 28, only played 14 times for Barcelona during the last campaign. He struggled to get a look in under Ronald Koeman, and the Dutchman is looking to free up some cash. Coutinho sits high on the list of players that will be sold in the coming months.
AS, as relayed by TBR Football, claim Liverpool are being offered the chance to re-sign him. Coutinho clocked up 201 appearances for the Reds after Brendan Rodgers signed him from Inter Milan. During that time, he had a hand in 99 goals at Liverpool.
It is unclear how much Coutinho would cost Liverpool. Even if Barcelona had a price tag for the Brazilian, the outstanding payments still owed to Liverpool would change that. But it is clear that he could move this summer, and the Reds could consider it – with Gini Wijnaldum about to go.
Liverpool fans responded in their drones to the report. It is clear that many would welcome the pocket-sized playmaker’s return. One fan is urging Michael Edwards to get him back, while another reckons £20million is a fair price.
