Liverpool’s first-team has been rocked this season with a number of injuries to key members of their team. It would appear the club’s under-23 ranks are also suffering a similar stroke of misfortune.
It has been announced on the club’s official website that Paul Glatzel and Joe Hardy will be out for several weeks with ankle ligament damage suffered in a game against Southampton at the weekend.
Glatzel suffered an ACL injury from which he had just started to find his way back to full fitness. During the 2018/19 campaign, he fired 21 goals, striking up a tremendous partnership with Bobby Duncan.
Hardy arrived at the club from Brentford in the summer of 2019 and enjoyed a solid maiden campaign in the under-23 side.
Both players will now face a prolonged spell on the sidelines as they begin individual rehabilitation.
Supporters have been left gutted with injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson this season.
This latest news with the under-23 duo isn’t ideal and supporters are hopeful that both can return and press towards the first-team once again.
For Glatzel, it’s a real cruel stroke of misfortune as he’s only just returned to action from his previous concern.
Here is what supporters were saying on Twitter about the injured duo.
Young Glatzel has zero luck.
