Liverpool fans react as Newcastle reportedly eye Michael Edwards move
Newcastle are reportedly considering a move to hire Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards – and Reds fans have responded on Twitter.
The Liverpool transfer chief is likely to step down from his role at Anfield when his contract expires in 2022. There no plans to renew.
That is, despite the brilliant work he has done at Liverpool since joining the club in 2011 from Tottenham. He become sporting director in 2016.
Since then, he has been responsible for the big-money sales of Philippe Coutinho and others – as well as the additions of Mo Salah, Alisson etc.
Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane, too. Brilliant signings, timely sales and for fees surprisingly more than expected. He has done a brilliant job.
What are Liverpool fans saying as Newcastle reportedly eye Edwards?
The owners are convinced that adding a sporting director to the Newcastle side will take the club forward. Edwards would certainly do that.
They need a man with experience of spending large sums of cash – but one that knows how to build a side, and get value for money on their deals.
Liverpool fans have reacted to reports that Edwards could end up at Newcastle in the near future. Many are worried of Edwards at Newcastle.
