Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne looks like he is stepping up his comeback from a knee ligament injury suffered during a pre-season tour.
The right-back was ruled out for at least six months in July 2019 but now looks to be on the mend.
Liverpool’s official media team uploaded videos of the 28-year-old yesterday, showing him increasing his workload as he edges back towards playing football.
Clyne was injured during a friendly game against Borussia Dortmund and that scuppered any chance he had of impressing Jurgen Klopp.
He finished last season on loan at Bournemouth playing 15 times in Eddie Howe’s team.
Clyne signed for Liverpool for £12.5 million from Southampton in 2015 (BBC). He has played 103 times for the Reds and for a while was England’s first choice at right-back.
The emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold saw him lose his place and he is out of contract during the summer.
It’s unclear at this stage whether or not Liverpool will offer Clyne a new deal. Having not played for the Reds for some time, he does face a real battle to earn himself an extended contract.
Following his return to training, Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to speak about the right-back, with many wishing him well.
Here is a selection of tweets from supporters after it emerged that Clyne is working his way back to fitness.
Last year was fantastic against UTD. I think we need his experience as lons as he keeps solid and fast.

I'm entirely fine with Clyne showing up for his 5 2 minute cameos to collect his winner's medal.

Clyne used to be one of my favourite players because, to me, he was the most consistent defender in the past. It’s amazing how a teenager just took his place and made it his own.
