Liverpool fans react as Jurgen Klopp provides fitness update on Joel Matip
The Cameroon international is facing a little spell on the sidelines.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Joel Matip will be out until after the international break and supporters have been reacting on Twitter.
The 29-year-old was brilliant alongside Virgil van Dijk during Liverpool’s run to Champions League glory during 2018/19 but last season was a tough one.
Matip managed just 13 outings in all competitions with a knee injury curtailing his chances of establishing himself in the Reds first-team.
Now it would seem as though Matip is behind Joe Gomez in the pecking order and he faces a real battle to get back to his best.

The Cameroonian has 27 caps for the national team and on his day is a more than capable defender – as he proved during the 2018/19 campaign.
In total Matip has played 112 times for the Reds since arriving from Bundesliga outfit Schalke.
He is trusted by Klopp and it’ll be interesting to see who he does view as first-choice alongside Van Dijk once everyone is fully fit.
Matip earns £100,000-a-week and following the latest news, some fans have been reacting.
Some are sincere towards the international defender, whilst others think it might be better if he is sold.
Here is a selection of Tweets from supporters as Matip picks up another injury.
Here we go again 😓 Matip out for another month, Gomez not looking good either.

Such a shame about Matip….always felt he was very very underrated, but his injury record is definitely holding him back from being a top top CB

I like Joel a lot but I think come January we will have to cash in on Matip and get a better replacement. This is ridiculous from such a big guy.
