Liverpool fans react as Jurgen Klopp elects to bring on Adam Lallana against Leicester

Jordan Henderson was taken off the field of play after a tough challenge involving Leicester City substitute Ayoze Perez on Boxing Day evening, and was replaced by Adam Lallana – but Liverpool fans are not particularly impressed at the decision.

Captain Henderson, who was excellent throughout Liverpool’s stunning 4-0 win, was taken off in the 82nd minute. The England star was complaining of a knock to his shin, with Jurgen Klopp stating it was bleeding after the match.

A brace from Roberto Firmino, as well as goals from James Milner – from the penalty spot – and the very impressive Trent Alexander-Arnold saw Liverpool stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League to 13 points.

With Henderson injured, Jurgen Klopp chose to bring on Lallana – instead of giving wonderkid Curtis Jones a run out – with the score reading 4-0. Jones, Liverpool’s Under-23 captain, has played just once in the Premier League.

Jones has starred in the UEFA Youth League for Liverpool, and continues to be a shining light for the second string. He has clocked up 17 appearances, and scored eight goals as well as laying on five assists from attacking midfield.

He remained on the bench on Boxing Day evening, though, as Klopp chose to use experience by picking the out-of-contract Lallana – who looks more and more likely to leave the club at the end of the season, and Liverpool fans are annoyed.
