Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is set to miss out on a spot in England’s starting line-up again.
According to various news sources, including Sky Sports News, Tyrone Mings will be selected ahead of him. Mings is set for his England debut with Everton’s Michael Keane dropped after some poor performances.
Mings will partner Harry Maguire at the back. Gareth Southgate has decided to use the left-footed defender alongside Maguire instead of Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori or Gomez.
Liverpool starlet Gomez is not getting into the side because of his lack of first-team minutes this season. This is because Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip have been in imperious form at the back.
Gomez has played six times this season and has only featured twice in the league. But Liverpool fans are arguing his case for an England place. With Maguire and Keane both struggling, Gomez was surely a serious contender to start against Bulgaria tonight.
The 22-year-old has proven his quality for the Reds with some impressive displays last season. Here are some tweets from Liverpool fans after hearing Mings will play instead.
Gomez gets penalized for being behind the two best CB’s in Europe? Southgate is an embarrassment.

It’s irrelevant…he is by far Englands best centre back.
That easy run and failure in the World Cup masks that Southgate is a terrible manager.

Would love to know why he went through a phase of playing Welbeck then. He makes it up as he goes along. Stop complicating things and trying to look clever, play your best 11/team. Trippier, Keane, Rose, Rice are not it.

Southgate is now just showing inept he is at management

🤔 wonder who Southgate used to play for? But irrespective of my bias Gomez just better and surely more England’s future than the aforementioned.

Southgate is absolutely clueless, but good for us as it means less chance of injuries.
