Liverpool fans have lauded Gini Wijnaldum after the Dutchman produced a brilliant performance against Wolves.
The Reds have kept up the pressure on Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the Premier League table, beating Nuno Espirito Santo’s side 4-0 at Anfield.
Goals came from Mo Salah, Gini Wijnaldum, Joel Matip with Nelson Semedo turning into his own net.
It was the perfect occasion for the lucky fans that were in attendance, who knew Wolves would have been a potential banana skin.
In truth though, the visitors made Liverpool’s job relatively easy with some questionable defending on the night.
One man who really stood out for the home side was Wijnaldum, who was starting his 11th game in a row for both club and country.
The £25 million star (BBC Sport) completed 41/42 passes for a completion rate of 98%, and won three of his five duels (Sofascore).
His goal was superbly taken, unleashing a drive from distance as the Reds counter-attacked.
Wijnaldum’s display – which was given a 9/10 by the Liverpool Echo – will only increase the clamour from supporters regarding his contract.
His deal expires next summer and the player has refused to be drawn on it up to now.
