Liverpool fans react as Gini Wijnaldum scores outstanding goal on international duty

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum netted both goals for the Netherlands as they beat Belarus 2-1 away from home yesterday.

The former Newcastle midfielder netted an absolute stunner to double his tally just before half time and as is typical during the international break, the goal went viral.

Wijnaldum is granted more creative freedom at international level, with Jurgen Klopp preferring to use him more conservatively at Anfield.

He is able to play as a number ten for the Dutch and offered a reminder of his capabilities as an attacking force by winning the game for his side, as they continue their return to the upper echelons of European football.

Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to discuss why they don’t see that side of Wijnaldum, and the consensus is that it’s because of Klopp’s tactical setup.

That said, some want to see it more often in a red shirt, with that constant angst over whether Liverpool’s midfield is creative enough never too far away from the surface.

With Liverpool’s next opponents being Manchester United, it would be an opportune time for Wijnaldum to find his shooting boots for the Reds this Sunday.
