The Norwegian FA have confirmed that UEFA have decided to postpone this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament by 12 months in order for European leagues to complete their seasons – and Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter.

Liverpool are just six points away from holding aloft their first Premier League, or First Division title in 30 years. But the Covid-19 outbreak has stopped the Premier League until April 3, and it is likely to extend beyond that.

Plenty of talk has been had over what will happen. Will the season be null and void? Will the season finish as the table sits right now? A 22-team Premier League next season? Or will the Euros be postponed in order to give the leagues more time?

Indeed, the Norwegian FA have confirmed on their official Twitter account that the latter will be their first step to getting over the coronavirus outbreak. It sees the Euros moved back a year, with the new start date on June 11 2021.

Liverpool’s match against Crystal Palace has been postponed, and are currently scheduled to take on Manchester City on April 5. But the chances of Liverpool playing that fixture, and any matches over the next few weeks, seems unlikely.

Liverpool fans are desperate for the season to be finished so they can finally hold aloft the Premier League title – and many Reds supporters, then, were delighted to hear the Euro 2020 tournament had been suspended.
