Emre Can has told German newspaper Bild that he would never consider a move to Manchester United due to his Liverpool past and the rivalry between the two sides – and many Reds fans have reacted on Twitter to his comments.
Can, 26, returned to Germany in January on a loan-to-buy deal from Italian champions Juventus after the competition in the middle of the park at The Old Lady became too fierce – especially following the signings of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey.
The Germany international had joined Juventus 18 months before from Liverpool on a free, following 167 appearances at Liverpool in all competitions. Goal claim that the deal has been made permanent for a fee of £21million.
Can has been linked with a move to Manchester United and was certainly a target in the January window before he joined Dortmund – and the Germany international has stated that he could never move to Old Trafford, due to his Liverpool loyalties.
“I would never play for Manchester United. My heart doesn’t allow that. The rivalry between the clubs is really huge,” Can said.
Can has not been linked with a return to Liverpool but will be remembered for his time at Anfield, in which he scored 14 goals including a stunning overhead kick against Crystal Palace. Since returning to Dortmund, Can has played eight times.
Liverpool supporters responded to Can’s comments and applauded their former midfielder for his loyalty shown to the Anfield club. Some have even suggested that they would have him back on Merseyside.
This shows the kind of mentality this guy had whenever he stood in us against the '$CUMS' United

Yeah he fulfilled his deal instead of putting in a transfer request to force a move, which is very loyal.
