Dom Solanke finally broke his Premier League drought for AFC Bournemouth as the Cherries produced a stunning performance to beat Leicester City 4-1 on Sunday evening – and Liverpool fans have applauded the striker.

Solanke, 22, had previously gone 38 Premier League matches without scoring in England’s top flight since he left Liverpool and moved to the Vitality Stadium for a fee in the region of £19million (BBC Sport).

However, his first and second Premier League goals for Bournemouth could not have come at a better time. He handed Eddie Howe’s side a priceless lead in the second half against Leicester with a neat finish.

Leicester had taken the lead through Jamie Vardy but that was cancelled out by Junior Stanislas from the penalty spot, in a match that saw Leicester’s defence disintegrate. Stanislas made it three, with a deflected effort.

But the best goal of the game was Solanke’s second. With confidence coursing through his veins, he intercepted a poor Christian Fuchs pass, gliding past Jonny Evans and finishing with aplomb by nutmegging Kasper Schmeichel.

Liverpool supporters reacted to Solanke’s excellent brace for Bournemouth – taking his overall tally to three goals in 43 league and cup outings for the Cherries. Reds fans applauded the one-time England international.
