Liverpool fans react as Diogo Jota reportedly faces two-month injury lay-off

Liverpool fans have been recoiling in horror on social media, after worrying reports emerged about Diogo Jota.

Portuguese outlet Record have claimed the forward is potentially facing around two months on the sidelines, after picking up a knee injury against Midtjylland in the Champions League in midweek.

Jota played 87 minutes against the Danish side, despite Liverpool having already sealed their qualification to the last 16.

It is yet another piece of bad news for the Reds, who have been continually rocked by injury blows this term.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez remain long-term absences, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho, Joel Matip, James Milner, Alisson, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri, Trent Alexander-Arnold have all had issues at various points in 2020/21.

Jota’s absence could hit Liverpool hard, with the 24-year-old having been in stunning form in recent weeks.

He’s made a brilliant start to his Anfield career, scoring nine goals in his first 17 appearances.

Not only does he look like great cover for Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino, but also genuine competition and support for the trio.

Klopp will now hope the likes of Shaqiri, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino will be able to step up.
