Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign former Newcastle United star Daryl Janmaat as a short-term solution to their defensive predicament – and supporters have been reacting on Twitter.

The Reds have lost Joe Gomez for the majority of the season after he picked up a series knee injury during international duty with England.

Virgil van Dijk is also out long-term leaving Liverpool with Joel Matip and youngsters Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams as the only centre-back options.

Janmaat has played over 140 games in the Premier League with Newcastle and Watford and would at least add another option to Liverpool’s ranks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also out injured and the man with 34 caps does have the ability to play at right-back too.

Janmaat perhaps isn’t a massive name but right now Liverpool are in a perilous situation with their defenders.

The reaction on Twitter has been somewhat mixed. Some feel Janmaat would be an ideal signing, whilst others believe the club should make do until the January window.

The Dutchman is on the lookout for a club after leaving the Hornets in the summer and now he’s been offered to the Anfield-based outfit.

Here is what supporters were saying about potentially signing Janmaat.
