Liverpool fans react as Danny Mills takes ill-judged swipe at Jurgen Klopp

The 2004 EFL Cup winner took aim at Klopp for his Anfield trophy haul.

Former England defender Danny Mills used the international break to take aim at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s trophy haul at Anfield.

As per TalkSport, Mills said that winning the Super Cup this year shouldn’t count towards the silverware the Reds have won under Klopp.

He said: “It doesn’t count. Ridiculous. I’ve never won it, so it doesn’t count for me. But it’s like the Community Shield, it’s not a proper trophy, is it? How many players at the end of their season go, oh yeah, I won the Super Cup… or the Community Shield?

“It’s not a proper trophy, I don’t think there’s any serious players or managers – maybe Mourinho – who count it as a serious trophy.”

Mills won just the 2004 League Cup with Middlesbrough in his playing career and many supporters took to Twitter to say he is just looking for attention or is just jealous.

To be in either the Community Shield or the Super Cup, you need to have had an exceptional season the year before so even if the trophies themselves do not carry the lustre that the Premier League or the Champions League do, they’re a fair barometer of a top side.
