Liverpool fans react as Daniel Sturridge posts Tweet following first Trabzonspor goal

Daniel Sturridge scored his second goal for Trabzonspor on Monday night from the penalty spot in a 2-2 draw against Europa League side Istanbul Basaksehir – and Liverpool fans have reacted to the striker’s Tweet.

Joining the club towards the end of August from Liverpool, it took a while for Sturridge to get going at Trabzonspor. He finally made his debut on September 15 – a 20-miniute cameo against Genclerbirligi.

He has since started the last three SuperLig games for Trabzonspor – scoring two goals and laying on two assists. He has been used up front, out wide and against Basaksehir, the 26-time England international was used as a number 10.

Sturridge opened the scoring before Basaksehir turned the game on its head after goals from Edin Visca and ex-Liverpool teammate Martin Skrtel. Alexander Sorloth scored a 96th-minute equaliser for Trabzonspor, and Sturridge posted on Twitter.

Sturridge’s Trabzonspor have started the season in excellent form, losing just one of their nine league games. They sit in fourth place, just two points behind leaders Alanyaspor. Sturridge is playing alongside John Obi Mikel and Caleb Ekuban.

Liverpool fans responded to Sturridge’s Tweet, which is his first Trabzonspor-related Tweet since he joined the Turkish side towards the end of August. Many reminded Sturridge that he is always welcome back at Anfield.
