In midweek, Liverpool have an EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Aston Villa. But it coincides with the Club World Cup semi-final against Monterrey in Doha.
Liverpool plan to use the youth team against Aston Villa and the senior team against Monterrey. However, injuries have restricted Klopp’s options so he has drafted Jones and Williams into the side.
Jones, the Reds’ U23 captain, recently made his Premier League debut and he provides depth in midfield. Williams is a right-back who was an unused substitute against Watford on Saturday. The Welshman will cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
