Liverpool fans react as club reportedly rivalling Manchester United for Bundesliga star

Liverpool are reportedly in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria but face competition from Jurgen Klopp’s old side Borussia Dortmund and Champions League rivals Atletico Madrid – and Reds fans have reacted on Twitter.

Sky Germany report that Dortmund, Atletico and Liverpool all want 23-year-old Zakaria, as well as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United who were first linked with the Switzerland international in October.

Since joining Gladbach in the summer of 2017, Zakaria has clocked up 96 appearances in all competitions. Able to play in both midfield or at centre-back, Zakaria is not only a quality player – but offers quality in two very important areas of the pitch.

With Dejan Lovren being linked with a number of clubs around Europe as he enters the final 12 months of his Liverpool contract, and cover needed in the middle of the park – Zakaria could be the perfect option.

German newspaper BILD claimed towards the beginning of this campaign that Manchester United were interested in signing Zakaria, and that interested parties would have to spend £45million to lure Zakaria away from the German club.

Liverpool fans reacted to the reported news that they were rivalling Manchester United for ex-Young Boys star Zakaria – and many Reds supporters feel Zakaria would be an excellent signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
