Liverpool fans react as club reportedly reconsidering move for Ben White in January

Liverpool have reportedly ‘re-established’ their interest in Brighton defender Ben White and could make a move for the uncapped English ace in the January transfer window – and Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter.

White, 23, has been in sensational form of late – enjoying a breakthrough 18-month spell in his career. He has lots to thank Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, who signed him on loan as somewhat of an unknown in the summer of 2019.

He played all 49 matches for Leeds in 2019-20, helping the Whites gain promotion to the Premier League. Leeds tried to get him permanently, but failed to do so and White since rejoined Brighton – but this time as a first-team regular.

Indeed, White has started all 12 Premier League games for Brighton and has only been substituted in two of those games. Journalist Ian McGarry has told the Transfer Window podcast that Liverpool and Manchester United are interested.

“Manchester United and Liverpool have re-established interest, which they first established in the summer, in Brighton defender Ben White who has made a very, very impressive start to the season,” McGarry said.

“He is a young, English player, can play out from the back, can play in a three or a four. Brighton value him at anything £50million plus. Liverpool and Man United feel like they can do something in January.”

The Reds are certainly in need of a centre-back. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are fighting to play some part this season, while Joel Matip had to go off against Fulham on Sunday – leaving the Reds with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho at centre-back.

Liverpool supporters reacted on Twitter to reports that they are looking to beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the race for Brighton ace White – and many think the £50million-rated star would be a good signing for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
