Liverpool have reportedly opened talks to sign West Ham United teenager Jeremy Ngakia this month after the right-back refused to agree new terms with the Hammers – and Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Ngakia, 19, broke into the West Ham side this season with David Moyes preferring the youngster to veteran Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredericks at times. However, his contract is due to expire at the end of June.

Read Liverpool claim that West Ham have seen their attempts to extend Ngakia’s contract rejected, so much so that the defender may look to leave the east London club at the end of his contract – in less than a fortnight’s time.

Liverpool are said to have opened talks with the player’s representatives but are believed to be one of a number of clubs interested in landing the young right-back – who impressed against Liverpool back in January.

The Reds are expected to lose Nathaniel Clyne on a free transfer, with the England international in the same contractual boat as Ngakia. Liverpool do boast Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams as options, though.

Liverpool supporters reacted to the reported news that their club are in talks to sign Ngakia, and while some feel he would be a good signing – others think that he is not needed at Anfield, given Williams’ presence as back-up.
