Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move to extend Pedro Chirivella’s contract at Anfield after the Spanish maestro starred at the base of The Reds midfield on Sunday evening against Everton – but Reds fans are not particularly impressed.
Chirivella, 22, is in the final months of his current deal and is free to talk to non-English sides under the Bosman ruling. It means he can sign a pre-contract with another side, and join them in the summer – something Emre Can did with Juventus.
Since joining Liverpool as a 16-year-old from Valencia in 2013, Spain youth international Chirivella has clocked up just nine senior appearances for Liverpool. He has also gone on loan twice to the Netherlands, and once in Spain.

But his excellent display in the 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday, which was eventually won by Curtis Jones’ magical strike, has seemingly tempted Liverpool into considering a new deal for the midfielder – keeping him beyond the summer, as per Sky Sports.
Liverpool could do with cover at the base of their midfield. Fabinho is currently injured, while James Milner limped off early on against Everton. Jordan Henderson is being used frequently, while Adam Lallana has even been used at the base of midfield.
Keeping Chirivella as cover could be an important decision, then, and Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that The Reds could offer the Spanish star a new deal. But some supporters are concerned.
