Liverpool and Everton have reportedly ‘knocked on the door’ for Torino’s Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer with the January transfer window now in full flow – and Reds supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.

Liverpool clearly need a centre-back. Joel Matip is now injured, joining Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the sidelines – the latter duo are expected to be out for the rest of the season. Dejan Lovren joined Zenit in the summer.

The Reds have been using Fabinho at centre-back, though the Brazilian is best suited in midfield. Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams have both been used alongside Fabinho, while Jordan Henderson has been suggested as an option.

Plenty have been linked – Ajax’s Perr Schuurs and Lille’s Sven Botman arguably the two most-likely targets. Bayern Munich’s David Alaba has also been suggested, but the belief is that the Austrian wants a move to Spain.

Italian website Corriere Granata have now claimed that Liverpool are knocking on the door for 23-year-old Brazilian Bremer – but could face competition from Merseyside rivals Everton. He cost Torino £5million (This Is Anfield).

Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Bremer had been linked with a move to Anfield and indeed Goodison Park. Many think he would be a “decent” signing for the Reds.
