Liverpool are surprisingly interested in signing Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida this summer according to reports from Turkey – and many Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Vida could be on his way to Anfield.
According to Turkish outlet Yeni Asir, Liverpool are to reignite their interest in 31-year-old Vida. Jurgen Klopp was first linked with the former Dynamo Kiev star in January 2018, after Vida helped Croatia reach the World Cup final.
However, Vida has since remained at Besiktas – clocking up 88 appearances for the Turkish side, even scoring eight goals. Having never played in Europe’s big leagues – other than nine appearances for Bayern Leverkusen – Vida is unproven.
But given his exploits in European football and the World Cup, Klopp is a fan and is desperate to bring the experienced central defender to Anfield – with Vida’s national teammate Dejan Lovren expected to leave Anfield in the coming months.
Liverpool are unlikely to be alone in their pursuit of Vida. Fanatik claimed last month that Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion want Vida, who is due to cost £8.5million for any interested parties this summer.
Liverpool supporters reacted to the reported news on Twitter ahead of the summer window, and many believe he could be a good addition for Klopp’s side as cover for both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

He is actually a good Cb so if Lovren leaves he would be a good replacement

I once mentioned Vida as a good back up signing for the Liverpool defence during the Russia hosted FIFA World Cup. If it works out, i think it will be good. Less money and a good cover.
