Liverpool fans react as club president confirms striker will not sign new deal
Dusan Vlahovic will not be signing a new contract at Fiorentina, according to the club’s president – and Liverpool fans are urging their club to sign him.
Vlahovic’s decision not to sign a new deal comes as little surprise. The Serbia international is arguably the best of his type in Europe, at his age.
Last season, the 21-year-old scored an enormous 21 Serie A goals in 37 appearances. An incredible record that is only getting better, this season.
In eight appearances in all competitions, Vlahovic has found the back of the net on six occasions. Fiorentina have a contract with Vlahovic until 2023.
Clearly, La Viola and the club president Rocco Commisso are desperate to keep their prized asset. But it is bad news on that front for the Serie A side.
In a club statement, Commisso confirmed Vlahovic has turned down a new deal – which would have made him Fiorentina’s best-paid player.
What are Liverpool fans saying about Fiorentina ace Vlahovic?
The Mirror reported the news, stating that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs interested in luring the big striker to the Premier League soon.
Back in the summer, Tottenham and Manchester City were strongly linked – while the Mirror report also names Arsenal as a potential suitor.
It is unclear how much Fiorentina will want to sell Vlahovic for, given that he now wants to leave the club – and is refusing to sign a new contract.
But given his form and age, and the fact he is a striker with international caps, a fee is likely to be some way north of £50million next summer.
Liverpool fans reacted to the news on Twitter, urging their club to lure Vlahovic to Anfield in the coming months.
