Liverpool fans react as club linked with signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar

Liverpool have reportedly added Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar to their shortlist for the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to give his Reds side a revamp in pre-season – and Reds supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Aouar, 21, has already clocked up 133 outings for Lyon since breaking into the senior side – and has had a hand in 16 goals just this season, scoring nine and creating seven. Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim Lyon value Aouar at £52million.

The Liverpool Echo claim that France international Aouar is one of a number of targets for Klopp’s side this summer, along with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Todd Cantwell, Jadon Sancho, Diego Carlos, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

Liverpool are due to lose Adam Lallana in the summer with his contract due to expire, a similar case to Pedro Chirivella who is also expected to leave on a free. Gini Wijnaldum’s future is in doubt, too, with the Dutch star’s contract ending in 2021.

Other than Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool lack central midfielders that are able to score on a regular basis. Chelsea and Manchester City have also been loosely linked with the Ligue 1 midfielder, who has a contract until 2023.

The Daily Mail state that Liverpool are not alone in their pursuit of the £65million-rated star. Manchester City, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the French wonderkid.

Liverpool fans reacted to the reported interest from their club Aouar and many feel as though he would be a top addition to Klopp’s side. One supporter said he is just as important as signing Werner, claiming both are “musts”.
