Liverpool fans react as club linked with player-plus-cash deal for Kalidou Koulibaly

Liverpool are reportedly interested in securing the services of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer and are said to be willing to include Dejan Lovren in a player-plus-cash deal to do so – and Liverpool fans have reacted.

Koulibaly, 28, continues to show he is one of the world’s best central defenders as he shines at the heart of Napoli’s defence. Even captaining the side on occasion, he has helped Napoli remain unbeaten in the Champions League this term.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Liverpool want to sign 33-time Senegal international Koulibaly, who is rated at a whopping £70million by Foot Mercato. Newcastle are also said to be interested, as per the latter report.

However, amid the global health crisis, it seems unlikely that there could be any deals worth such a figure. Indeed, many swap deals could be engineered – and Liverpool are no exception in their pursuit of Koulibaly.

Indeed, Gazzetta Dello Sport have suggested that Liverpool could include former Lyon and Southampton defender Lovren could be included in a deal for Koulibaly – handing Napoli an immediate replacement.

Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that The Reds could include Lovren in a deal to sign Koulibaly, and many have urged their club to complete a deal.
