Liverpool fans react as club linked with Leeds star Kalvin Phillips

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer as The Reds look to bring in cover in midfield – and Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter, urging their club to land the English ace.

Phillips, 24, has been in stunning form for Leeds this season after ignoring the lure of the Premier League last season. The likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen, but Phillips has remained at Elland Road.

For a second consecutive season under Marcelo Bielsa, Phillips has starred at the base of the midfield – and that is said to have attracted Liverpool. Bleacher Report claim Liverpool could move for Phillips, or Norwich’s Todd Cantwell.

Harry Kewell, who played for both Liverpool and Leeds during his controversial career, spoke to Sky Sports’ The Debate about Phillips and was full of praise for the midfielder – claiming his range of passing is “fantastic”.

“He is performing, day in, day out,” Kewell said. “As a manager, that is what you are looking at to see if they can perform at an international level. We’re talking about a holding midfielder that is dominating his position.

“His range of passing, short and long, is fantastic. He’s got a bit of maturity, but also steel between his teeth. He allows the other midfielders to get forward and join the attack.”

Liverpool are due to leave both Adam Lallana and Pedro Chirivella this summer, who are both out of contract in June. Gini Wijnaldum is out of contract next season, while James Milner is well into his thirties.

Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Phillips is a target for the Premier League leaders, and many feel he would be an good signing for The Reds.
