Club Brugge have been awarded the Belgian First Division A title by the Jupiler League’s board of directors agreed to hand Simon Mignolet’s side the title with one game of the regular campaign left – and Liverpool fans have reacted.
With the current Covid-19 epidemic halting European football for the time being, many football authorities have been left with an enormous decision over whether to upset, appease or split the reaction down the middle from fans.
Boards have been left with a number of options. Seasons can be voided, meaning anything done this season can be thrown in the bin – allowing the pressure of completing the season before the 2020-21 campaign is alleviated.

Some leagues, including the Belgian top tier, have taken the standings as they are now – meaning Brugge have been announced as the division’s champions. With one game of the regular season left, Brugge were 15 points clear.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have 25 points between themselves and second-placed Manchester City. The Reds are just two wins away form securing their first top-flight title in 30 years.
Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Brugge and former player Mignolet had been awarded the top-tier title – and many are desperate to see similar action being taken in England.
