Liverpool fans react as club are linked with move for Champions League winner

Yesterday it was claimed that Liverpool are one of several top European clubs courting David Alaba who will become a free agent during the summer – and supporters have been reacting on Twitter.

The centre-back has played over 400 games for Bayern Munich and helped them to the Champions League title last season, winning all 11 games in the competition.

It seems the 28-year-old is not keen to stay with the Bavarian giants and Real Madrid are already thought to have offered the player a long-term contract to move to Spain.

Alaba is an Austrian international who plays predominantly as a centre-back but can also play at left-back or in a holding midfield role.

Liverpool are in pretty desperate need of a defender, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all currently nursing injuries.

Alaba is unlikely to head anywhere until the summer though and the report doesn’t suggest that a move will be made by Liverpool this month.

It seems supporters are getting pretty desperate to see the Reds land a defender though and they’ve been discussing the possibility of an Anfield arrival for the £165,000-a-week Alaba.
