Liverpool fans react as Celtic target Ben Davies nears Anfield move
Liverpool are set to complete a deal to sign Preston North End defender Ben Davies, according to the Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer and the Premier League champions are set to fork out £2 million to sign him.
A left-sided central defender, Davies had been set to sign for Celtic but Liverpool have now stolen a march.
Davies has played 145 times for the Lilywhites and is widely regarded as one of the Championship’s top defenders.

A move to Celtic Park was all set to go through before news of Liverpool’s interest turned the player’s head.
Naturally, there is some uncertainty among Liverpool supporters, although signing a centre-back had become paramount.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all injured, with youngster Nat Phillips partnering Jordan Henderson at the back earlier today.
Liverpool will complete the signing of Davies at some point in the next 24 hours and it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.
He’s been a real stalwart for Preston but it goes without saying this move will represent a huge step up.
Ahead of his move to Anfield, here is what Liverpool fans have been saying on Twitter.

If that means Fabinho and Henderson will play in midfield, I’ll take him.
