Liverpool fans react as Bobby Duncan scores twice for England under-19s

Bobby Duncan left Liverpool for Fiorentina in the summer.

It was one of the more regrettable stories of the summer for Liverpool as young talent Bobby Duncan looked to leave the club.

The talented striker, who is the cousin of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, joined Italian side Fiorentina in a deal reported by The Guardian to be worth around £1.8 million.

But before the deal got done came a horrible mess involving his agent and Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards.

Claims of bullying were refuted by Liverpool and, in the end, the best decision was made by the club. Duncan was sold despite possessing an extreme amount of talent.

It certainly left a bitter taste in the mouth of some Liverpool fans but Duncan has now moved on and has shown good form for Fiorentina’s Primavera side, scoring four goals in seven games.

That form continued with the England under-18s yesterday. Duncan scored twice and provided an assist in a 4-0 win with a performance he was clearly over the moon with.

So how did Liverpool fans react to Duncan’s latest impressive display?

It was certainly a mixed bag.

Some Liverpool fans are clearly still disappointed in the way Duncan exited the club, although most of that anger has often been directed at his agent instead.

Indeed, some Liverpool fans are simply now hoping the teenager can make the best of it in Italy and forge a decent career for himself in Florence.
