Liverpool have held talks with Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, getting into contact with the player’s agent and uncle – and Reds supporters have responded to those claims, with many urging Michael Edwards to get a deal done.
Llorente, 24, will be remembered by Liverpool fans for knocking Jurgen Klopp’s side out of last season’s Champions League. With Liverpool and Atletico Madrid going into extra time at Anfield, he scored twice to down Klopp’s men.
Previously, the one-time Spain international had not been renowned for his goalscoring pedigree – so the brace against Liverpool lives long in the memory not just for Reds fans, but also Llorente. AS say Llorente even named his dog ‘Anfield’.
Discussing Llorente’s future at Atletico Madrid as he continues to impress this season – scoring five and creating three more in 17 games – Julio, his agent and uncle, stated that Liverpool had been on the other end of the phone on numerous occasions.

“I have received many calls from Anfield for Llorente, but not many dare either. Marcos and I have always talked about this and he wants to stay, so there’s not much to do,” Julio told Cadena Ser. “The last call I received in May and it was not from Spain.”
As Julio states, a move to Liverpool would be unlikely for Llorente – though it is clear that the Reds are preparing for life without Gini Wijnaldum who is close to entering the final six months of his contract. Naby Keita has failed to reach the hype.
Liverpool supporters reacted to the comments made by Llorente’s agent and have urged their club to complete a move for the ex-Real Madrid star. One supporters even suggested a player-plus-cash deal of Keita + £10million.
