Liverpool fans react as Atletico Madrid reportedly looking to engineer Thomas Partey swap

Atletico Madrid are reportedly looking to lure Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Spain this summer in a swap deal with Ghanaian anchor Thomas Partey – and Reds fans have reacted on Twitter.

Partey, 26, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer – with Arsenal said to be interested in a move for Ghana international Partey. However, The Sun doubt whether Arsenal can achieve his £45million price tag.

Diego Simeone’s side are also expected to be lacking in transfer funds this summer, given the current global health crisis. Many transfer experts have already stated that free transfers, loan deals and swapping players is likely to be the order of the day.

The Argentine manager wants to use Partey to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, 26, who remains a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s side having played 34 times in all competitions this season – scoring seven goals in those matches.

Liverpool already have a number of holding midfielders, in the form of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner – though Partey is starting to be considered one of the world’s best in his position.

Many Liverpool supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be swapped for Partey in the coming months, and some think it could be a deal that would benefit the Reds – while others disagree.
