Liverpool fans react after young player Duncan mocks Chelsea after 2-0 victory

Liverpool banished some demons yesterday with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Anfield, as well as keeping their title chase bang on track.

Five years ago, Steven Gerrard’s slip allowed the Blues to win by the same scoreline as Brendan Rodgers’ side chased that elusive Premier League title but the Reds suffered no such trouble yesterday.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring before Mo Salah’s stunner sealed the points but before the game, Chelsea’s official Twitter account fanned the flames of the rivalry by reminding their fans of Gerrard’s slip.

It seemed a bizarre and slightly risky move from the official account and proved that way as Liverpool swept aside their visitors with relative ease.

Young player Bobby Duncan took to Twitter to respond to the tweet after the match, saying ‘safe trip back to London’ and it has gone viral.

The Liverpool fans, still jubilant in the aftermath of an impressive and exciting win, loved it, taking Duncan to their hearts before he’s even played a competitive game for the first team.

We’ve taken a look at the best of the reaction to Duncan’s tweet as Chelsea’s pre-match call to arms backfired…
