Leicester City were in Premier League action against Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime – and some Liverpool fans on Twitter responded on Twitter by picking out Foxes star Youri Tielemans for his individual performance.
A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media felt that the Belgian was in brilliant form at the King Power Stadium, with plenty suggesting that he’s someone they’d like to see with them at Anfield in the future.
Tielemans played 90 minutes in a match that Leicester drew 2-2 at home to Man United in a top four clash, with goals from Marcus Rashford, Harvey Barnes, Bruno Fernandes and Axel Tuanzebe (own goal).
The 23-year-old Leicester midfielder majorly impressed in the centre of the park for the hosts, where he was able to dictate much of the possession from deeper areas and he also provided some sharp defensive moments.
He’s the player more than most in the Leicester team that is comfortable taking the ball anywhere on the pitch and he backs himself to get out of any situation, which is a sign that he’s playing with enormous confidence.
His team are currently second in the top-flight table and he’s proving that he can be extremely effective against the best.
After an initial loan spell at the King Power Stadium in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign, Leicester signed Tielemans on a permanent basis for £40million (Guardian) in July 2019 from French side Monaco.
The playmaker doesn’t currently get the kind of recognition as some of the Premier League’s elite midfielders, but he’s been at the heart of the Leicester team ever since he joined and this season he’s been a superb driving force in the team’s success.
He is an all-action central midfielder that has added extra defensive steel to his game and it says a lot that he’s a key player on the international stage for the world’s number one ranked country Belgium.
Aged 23, Tielemans should have his prime years ahead of him and he may well have the potential to play for any team across Europe if he keeps improving at the current rate that he is.
One Liverpool fan suggested during Saturday’s Boxing Day fixture that the Leicester man should be eyed as a possible replacement for Reds midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
30-year-old Wijnaldum has been a key player in the Liverpool team in the last few years and is a box-to-box sensation for them, but he’s currently in the final year of his contract on Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp’s do already have a plethora in talent in midfield areas, so looking for any kind of signing in that position anytime soon would be somewhat of a surprise.
They are stacked with brilliant midfield options such as Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.
But the career path of Tielemans is certainly going to be an intriguing one to follow, regarding where he’s going to be playing his football between the age of 27-30.
Here are some Liverpool fans discussing the Premier League performance of Tielemans:
Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans are damn underrated btw.

How much is Tielemans now worth? Such a baller. Would love to have him at LFC. Even though our CM is super stacked.

Tielemans is class. He reminds me of Thiago. The way he passes through the lines and is hard to press. Quality player
