Liverpool fans rave about performance of Curtis Jones during Shrewsbury Town win

Liverpool’s youngsters produced a brilliant performance to beat Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup last night at Anfield.

With Jurgen Klopp and his first-team on their winter break, it was left to Neil Critchley’s under-23s to negotiate a place in round five of the competition.

A Ro-Shaun Williams own goal secured the victory and set up a trip to Chelsea in the next round.

It isn’t the first time this season that Critchley has been left in charge.

Back in December with Liverpool playing in the Club World Cup, he oversaw a 5-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

The result was far sweeter this time, however, with the Reds delighted a packed out Anfield crowd.

One man who continues to adhere himself to the Liverpool faithful is starlet Curtis Jones.

The 19-year-old was captain for the night last night, having scored in the third round against Everton and in the 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury the first time the teams met.

He is seen as a real star of the future and Liverpool fans were simply in awe of him once again last night.

Jones operated on the left-wing against the Shrews but he has showcased his central midfield talents at times this season.

Following last night’s game supporters took to Twitter to rave about the youngster.
