'Well that's beautiful': Liverpool fans react to Ibrahima Konate comments on Gini Wijnaldum
Liverpool fans have been having their say on social media after hearing from Ibrahima Konate for the first time since he arrived this summer.
The big central defender has been brought in by Jugen Klopp to provide extra cover and quality in defence. After last season’s injury hit campaign, Liverpool made it a priority to get a new defender, with Konate eventually the man to come in.
The Dutch midfielder has left for pastures now. But Konate, 22, has come in and will now take the number five from Wijnaldum.
Konate dubbed Wijnaldum a ‘great’ player and called taking the number ‘important’ for him. Crucially, he came across humble and positive and it was something Reds fans picked up on.
In fairness, ‘Gini’ will probably go down as a legend. He won the Champions League, before being instrumental in winning the Premier League.
Here, then, is what some Liverpool fans had to say about Konate and his comments on Wijnaldum.
He’s going down as an all timer I see it
