Liverpool fans hail ‘time traveller’ Jurgen Klopp as former player Christian Pulisic helps secure title

Liverpool fans are celebrating winning the Premier League title this evening.

Liverpool have won their first Premier League title as their nearest rivals failed to get the win they needed to continue the title challenge.

The result means Liverpool have an insurmountable lead at the top of the Premier League table and Jurgen Klopp’s side have won a deserved title.

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, securing Liverpool a richly deserved league triumph.

Willian scored the winning goal after Kevin De Bruyne had earlier equalised for City, nestling home a penalty after Fernandinho handled on the line to be shown his marching orders.

But it was the first goalscorer that had Liverpool fans hailing a masterclass from Klopp.

Christian Pulisic, who was a thorn in the side of City for the entire game, scored the opener after slipping past Benjamin Mendy.

The American is, of course, a former Borussia Dortmund player where he worked under Klopp.

Indeed, speaking last month, as reported by The Mirror, Pulisic admitted he was extremely ‘grateful’ for the opportunity that Liverpool boss Klopp gave him at Dortmund.

“It’s like I’m going in and I’m just this 16-year-old kid. I was thinking just do my best. I was just so excited and I’m just thankful to Jurgen Klopp that he gave me that opportunity.

“I’ll take that with me forever and I’m really grateful.”

Of course, Pulisic was never a real first-team option at Dortmund under the tutelage of Klopp. It was under Thomas Tuchel that Pulisic first had his breakthrough for Die Schwarzegelden.

Klopp was often linked with bringing Pulisic to Anfield, but it never happened. Now, plenty of Liverpool fans, with tongues firmly in cheeks, are suggesting it was all part of a masterplan from the German, as Pulisic got the ball rolling on Liverpool’s long-awaited Premier League title-winning evening.

Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
