Liverpool fans on social media have been drooling over new signing Thiago after the Spaniard made his debut against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Reds ran out 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge, with Sadio Mane bagging a brace after Andreas Christensen saw red just before half-time.
Liverpool took full advantage of the numerical advantage in the second half, with Mane heading home his first after a lovely intricate team move.
Mane then pounced on an error from Kepa Arrizabalaga to put the visitors 2-0 up.
Liverpool’s new signing Thiago was introduced to the action at half-time, and it did not take the maestro long to settle into his rhythm.
The ex-Bayern Munich star, who has just cost the club a reported £25 million including add-ons (BBC Sport), did as he does and completely dicatated the tempo of the game.
Amazingly, the star completed 75 passes during his cameo, which was more than any Chelsea player in the entire match and the most of any player in a 45-minute period since Premier League passing statistics first started to be recorded in 2003/04 (@BBCMOTD).
The only blemish was that the 29-year-old conceded a penalty for brushing Timo Werner in the area as he was shooting.
But he was let off the hook by Alisson, who saved Jorginho’s spot-kick.
Many Liverpool fans were left purring by the star’s 45-minute display and can’t wait to see him control games in the future.
Guy is a class act

Thiago’s already breaking records on his debut.
He played the most successful passes (75) by a player who played a maximum of 45 minutes. [@OptaJoe]

It’s been a joy watching Thiago plays. He’s so comfortable on the ball and passing it around so effortlessly. Finally a proper holding playmaker for us. #ThiagoAlcantara #lfc pic.twitter.com/cYQoblwH0K

Your thoughts on Thiago’s debut?
He looked like he had been playing in this team for years. Slotted in effortlessly. Looks so elegant on the ball and is an absolute joy to watch. Increased the level of everyone around him when he came on. He’s special. pic.twitter.com/QnCBQZ5vxD

I knew Thiago was good, but didn’t know he was this good.
Everything looks so silky and effortless for him. So great to watch and improves us tenfold.
Still can’t believe he’s a Liverpool player.
